Bio

With almost two decades of coaching experience, Coach Whitehead is in his second year as the Defensive Coordinator at Heritage High School. In Coach Whitehead’s first season as Defensive Coordinator, 2024, he produced a defense that set a school record with fewest total yards allowed single game (Karns, 19), fewest rushing yards allowed single game (Karns, -13, Clinton, 8), most TFL’s in a season (47), most sacks in a season (14), and produced three defensive shutouts.

During Coach Whitehead’s tenure as the Defensive Line Coach (previous 3 seasons), he’s developed 5 All-District Defensive Lineman, 3 All-Region Defensive Lineman including the Region 2-5A Defensive Player of the Year, and a TSWA All-State Defensive Lineman.

During Coach Whitehead's 17 years of coaching, he has experience coaching on both sides of the football and has served as a Special Teams Coordinator and Co-Defensive Coordinator in his two stops at both William Blount and Heritage High School.

Coach Whitehead resides in Townsend and is happily married to his wife, Holly Whitehead, an assistant principal at Heritage High School.
